22nd August 2010 - 1 Day Trip to M'sia
This is my second One Day Trip to Malaysia.. and is organised by my Dad's colleagues this time round.. the previous one was with my Mom's colleagues.. Being with dad's colleagues means some things.. 1st.. they are experts in Nature which includes all animals/plants/fruits/trees/etc and they can simply describe to you its species in full details.. and 2nd.. almost all of them carry a DSLR of their own because i guess part of their job is photographing nature?First stop was a Mushroom Farm.. over there we see how Mushroom are grown and harvested and we got a taste of how it taste like too.. So basically.. we had mushroom for breakfast..
We were visiting somewhat a village.. which had adapted to the tourism industry because they had built toilets, cooking and dining area just for tourists that visit them.. as well as a souvenir shop where you can buy.......... Mushrooms duh!
Breakfast is almost similar to life in army.. everyone queue up and were served a serving of each dishes.. the whole thing was kinda enhanced further because the guy that was serving us happened to wear an army tshirt too..
Seats were provided but you can forget about the tables.. plus there were so many houseflies that you have to keep moving all the time or else you will be having a plate of houseflies for breakfast instead.. Not something you will encounter everyday in Singapore..
Ohh..? What are they clapping their hands for?
Ohh! Happy Birthday to both of you.. =)
Fresh mushrooms that are just harvested right before our eyes..
We had rambutans for desserts too.. One thing to note when eating wild rambutans is that you should keep dropping the rambutan on the table for a few time so that insects that are within the hairs will drop out and you will not be eating them.. On average one rambutan have about 5 insects on them i guess..
There were some dragonflies that were flying pretty low so i managed to capture some of them.. on photographs i meant..
My mom and bro trying a new game that my dad introduced to us that he played when he was at our age.. basically some bow and arrow device made from a certain species of grass..
Next stop was some Ferry terminal kinda thing where we were going to take a ferry to one of the many fish farms around the area..
Most of the houses are directly above the water.. so you can roughly assume that this sea is partially made up of their daily business because their toilet is the sea! and it really make me wonder how messy things will be if they dropped their clothes while hanging them out..
Got onto their ferry and floated on all the pees and poops towards the fish farm.. now that i thought about it.. those fishes are probably so healthy over there because they had alot of our NATURAL FERTILISERS/VATAMINS..
Approaching the fish farm.. most of the farmers there live on it with the fishes and there are over 50 farms which sell the fishes to mainly their country, Singapore and other neighbouring countries..
So the fish farm is mainly made up of empty barrels and planks everywhere so it take quite some courage and skill and lightweight to walk on them.. especially those that are only ONE stick hanging above the fishes..
Got a glimpse of some of the fish that are breed over there.. so for this fishes.. they may just end up on your dinner plate in a few days or weeks time..
I learnt that they control how much the fishes eat by hanging food inside a iron cage so that they can remove it after a certain time limit.. and that they do not want to waste their food because it may drop to the bottom..
They had some creatures that are brought up for us to play with such as horseshoe crab, thunder crab, starfish and puffer fish.. I guess when you are young you tend to explore everything without so much of fear and disgust..
My dad with pufferfish and mom with the horseshoe.. Thanks to them im here blogging to all of you.. Hee!~
Stop playing and blowing bubbles with your saliva!! Its digusting!!
Fun Fact about Horseshoe Crab - Their blood aint red.. theirs are Blue.. =)
Here we have anchor fishes where the farmers place their food along the plank and they shoot with a 100% accuracy..causing their food to drop and them diving to eat it immediately.. even our best archer aint 100%
Like i said.. DSLR of all kind are everywhere..
Saw a water snake swimming around the fish farm so we decided to catch it and take photo with it.. Its harmless and pretty small.. much like a tree snake..
Me with my Mom and Bro.. Dad is taking the shot.. its sad to be a photographer because you dun appear in most pictures..
Lunch is mainly Durian and some other fruits so its quite a disappointing moment for me.. there were even more houseflies here so you have to take and eat fast once the durians were opened.. its said that within minutes.. a left open durian will be entirely covered with houseflies..
If you enjoy durians.. this is probably your most exciting moment of the day.. unlimited durians for you to feast on.. if you dont.. there are some noodles to fill your stomach.. but other than that.. starve until its dinner..
So after lunch everyone just spend their time around.. the kids were playing by drawing on the sands..
Adults are then around taking photos of them..I followed a few others and tried bird hunting but because the weather was horrible.. even the birds chose to stay in and not fly around.. so instead i captured butterflies.. =.="
Bird watching requires alot of patience and attention all at the same time.. as well as quick reflex and accuracy of your camera skills.. Not an easy hobby i will say.. This shot is taken by my dad.. Pretty cool huh..
Then my dad introduce to us another childhood game of his where you basically flip coins and the one nearest to the finishing line wins.. Some things i learnt is.. In modern days.. the winner keeps all the coins but in the olden days.. the winner get a piggyback ride to the finishing line.. and continue the game but this time.. nearest to the starting line.. and so on..
Afterwards was a complete waste of time shopping in a shopping mall which the prices and shops were almost identical to Singapore's.. so we had 2 hours walking around doing nothing but window shopping.. So no photos on that..
Dinner was at the same restaurant we came to the previous time.. but because we had a late fruit lunch at around 2+ and early dinner at around 5+.. most of us did not finish our dinner..
So this conclude my trip to Msia.. And things for me to note.. Next time round i shall bring my DSLR along so i can get some good shots myself instead of keep asking for the camera from my dad.. Tada~
